Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) successfully chased down a target of 201 against the Gujarat Titans (GT), marking their third victory in the TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The match was highlighted by an explosive century from Will Jacks and another reliable performance by Virat Kohli.
In the RCB vs GT match, RCB began their chase on a strong note, with Faf du Plessis leading the charge during the powerplay. He scored 24 runs, including three sixes, but fell in the fourth over when he holed out to deep mid-wicket off Sai Kishore. This brought Jacks to the crease, where he formed an unbeaten 166-run partnership that secured the win.
As the partnership progressed in the RCB vs GT encounter, Kohli emerged as the more aggressive scorer, consistently finding the boundaries. Meanwhile, the Jacks faced a tougher challenge against the GT spinners. Kohli reached his fifty in just 31 balls as RCB’s score climbed to 98 after 10 overs. Kohli’s innings showcased his trademark class and balance, setting Royal Challengers Bengaluru on a solid path toward victory and suggesting the match might enter the slog overs.
However, that’s when Jacks stepped up in the RCB vs GT match. When Mohit Sharma bowled the 10th over, Jacks broke free, launching a six over mid-wicket. He quickly followed that with a four over the off-side. In the next over, Kohli also made his mark, hitting Noor Ahmad for a six and a four.
Jacks took charge from that point on in the RCB vs. GT encounter, consistently seeking to finish the match himself. At one moment, it seemed a Kohli century was imminent, but by the end of 12 overs, Jacks had only managed 29 runs. He narrowed the gap with Kohli in the following couple of overs, reaching 44 by the end of 14. RCB needed 53 runs off the final six overs to win this thrilling contest.
In the 15th over of the RCB vs. GT match, bowled by Mohit, Jacks unleashed a flurry of shots, collecting three sixes and two fours in a remarkable 29-run over. This explosive display propelled him to his half-century, and he finished the over on 72 runs. Rashid Khan came in to bowl the 16th over, and on the very first ball, Kohli secured a single to mark his 500th run of the season.
Jacks then continued his exhilarating exhibition of batting against the world-class bowler, peppering the leg-side boundary with two sixes followed by a four, leveling the scores. As they approached the last ball of the over in the RCB vs. GT clash, RCB needed just one run, with Jacks on 94. He clinched victory spectacularly, swinging the ball over mid-wicket for a six. This secured the win and brought up an astonishing century off just 41 balls, sealing the game with four overs to spare. It was a performance that RCB fans would cherish for a long time in the annals of the RCB vs GT rivalry.
Earlier in the day, on a warm afternoon, du Plessis won the toss and opted to bowl in the RCB vs GT match. GT’s innings were anchored by B Sai Sudharsan, who scored an impressive 84 not out, while Shahrukh Khan provided crucial momentum with his impactful 58 in the middle order. These contributions helped Gujarat Titans reach 200—a milestone they achieved in both their afternoon home games last season.
GT faced a challenging start when they lost Wriddhiman Saha in the very first over. Saha attempted to hit Swapnil Singh over the off-side but edged the ball to Karn Sharma at short third-man. Sudharsan and Shubman Gill then steadied the innings, guiding GT past the powerplay at 42 for one. However, to accelerate the scoring in the RCB vs GT encounter, Gill lost his wicket to Glenn Maxwell while trying to clear long-on; he was brilliantly caught by Cameron Green in the deep.
Shahrukh was promoted to No. 4 and played a crucial role in the RCB vs. GT match with a significant knock. Shahrukh and Sudharsan forged a partnership of 86 runs off just 45 balls, helping GT recover after a difficult start. This partnership showcased Sudharsan’s elegance and finesse combined with Shahrukh’s explosive power.
Shahrukh’s innings injected much-needed energy into the GT camp. He raced to his maiden fifty in the TATA IPL, reaching the milestone in only 24 balls. His innings was a power-packed display, featuring three fours and five sixes. Unfortunately, it ended when Mohammad Siraj delivered a superb yorker to dismiss him in the 15th over, marking a pivotal moment in the RCB vs GT clash.
David Miller came in to support Sudharsan, and together, they propelled GT to 200 in the RCB vs. GT match. Sudharsan reached his fifty with a four off Siraj shortly after Shahrukh’s dismissal. He quickly advanced into the 80s during the slog overs as GT focused on hitting the 200 mark.
Throughout this phase, Sudharsan was the dominant scorer. Miller added the finishing touch with a six off the last ball, bringing GT to exactly 200—a solid score in general at Ahmedabad, but one that might prove insufficient against a determined Kohli and a formidable Jacks in the RCB vs GT encounter.
