Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) delivered a solid all-round performance in their match against Delhi Capitals (DC), securing a seven-wicket victory of TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at Eden Gardens. KKR’s bowlers effectively restricted DC to 154 runs, setting the stage for a comfortable chase powered by an aggressive opening partnership.
In the KKR vs DC match, DC won the toss and opted to bat first, hoping to post a significant score on a pitch known for producing high totals this season. Prithvi Shaw made an explosive start, hitting the first three legal deliveries for fours—cover driving Mitchell Starc’s first ball, sending the second through the leg-side, and punching the third down the track. This promising beginning set expectations high for DC.
However, despite the aggressive start, DC struggled to capitalize as they regularly lost wickets. KKR’s disciplined bowling attack took advantage of this, ultimately leading to DC’s underwhelming total. With a solid foundation laid by their bowlers, Kolkata Knight Riders chased down the target comfortably, demonstrating their strength in batting and bowling in the KKR vs. DC encounter.
In the KKR vs DC match, Prithvi Shaw fell early, trickling one down the leg side off Vaibhav Arora in the second over, where he was caught by the wicketkeeper. Jake Fraser-McGurk initially showcased his reputation by smashing a six over long-on off Mitchell Starc and following it up with a four through the off-side. However, his innings ended when he attempted to go over the leg side but found Venkatesh Iyer at deep square leg, who took a brilliant catch diving forward.
Arora continued his impressive spell in the KKR vs. DC encounter, claiming another breakthrough by casting out Shai Hope with a beautiful delivery, reducing DC to 37 for three inside four overs. Following this early collapse, Rishabh Pant and Abhishek Porel stepped in, aiming to stabilize the innings. Pant, in particular, took an aggressive approach, attempting a few scoop shots during his innings of 27.
Despite their efforts, the early wickets hampered DC’s momentum, forcing them to play cautiously. As the match progressed, it became increasingly challenging for DC to build a substantial total, highlighting the effectiveness of KKR’s bowling attack in this KKR vs DC showdown.
In the KKR vs DC match, Kolkata Knight Riders consistently pegged back Delhi Capitals with regular wickets. Harshit Rana struck first, dismissing Abhishek Porel when the score was 68. As the game progressed, Varun Chakaravarthy’s spin bowling posed significant challenges for DC, even as Rishabh Pant and Axar Patel attempted to maintain an aggressive momentum. Pant had a close call early in Chakaravarthy’s spell but eventually top-edged one, resulting in a catch by Shreyas Iyer on the off-side.
Tristan Stubbs quickly followed Pant to the dressing room after edging a delivery into Phil Salt’s gloves off Chakaravarthy’s bowling. Sunil Narine also contributed to the wickets, dismissing Axar for just 15 runs. Chakaravarthy continued to impress, claiming his third wicket by having Kumar Kushagra caught behind. At 111 for eight in the 15th over, DC found themselves in grave danger of a swift collapse during this KKR vs DC encounter.
DC needed some rearguard action from Kuldeep Yadav to avoid being bowled out quickly. His determined effort helped push DC past the 150-run mark, as he scored a personal best of 35 runs in the Tata IPL, featuring five fours and a six. Kuldeep’s contribution proved crucial in giving DC a fighting chance in the KKR vs DC clash.
DC’s recovery was commendable, providing their bowlers a competitive total to defend. However, Phil Salt’s explosive start disrupted DC’s plans and allowed KKR to take firm control of the match. Sunil Narine played a supporting role at the other end, scoring 15 runs with three boundaries during their partnership, but Salt dominated the proceedings.
In the KKR vs DC encounter, Salt was relentless during the Powerplay, attacking the bowling aggressively. The very first over bowled by Lizaad Williams was taken apart for 23 runs, setting the tone for KKR’s innings. Salt received a lifeline in the following over when a catch was dropped, and he seized the opportunity, targeting every corner of the ground and striking through the line. He raced to his fifty in just 26 balls, hitting a six off Khaleel Ahmed in the sixth over, followed by two more boundaries.
Salt’s performance defined the match, showcasing his ability to dominate the bowlers and keep the pressure on DC. His aggressive batting not only solidified KKR’s position but also emphasized the challenges faced by DC in the KKR vs DC showdown. With Salt leading the charge, KKR appeared to be on a clear path to victory.
KKR ended the Powerplay in their match against DC at a commanding 79 for no loss, firmly in control of the game. However, Axar Patel struck in the ninth over, dismissing Phil Salt for an explosive 68 runs off just 33 balls. Following this, KKR experienced a brief setback when Rinku Singh, promoted to No. 3, lost his wicket in the very next over for 11 runs.

The target was achieved on the 17th when Venkatesh launched a six-over cover, prompting jubilant celebrations from the home crowd.
