In the GT vs. CSK matchup, Gill and Sudharsan showcased delightful strokeplay, adding 210 for the first wicket and equaling the record for the highest opening stand in IPL history. This led GT to a formidable score of 231/3.
GT’s exceptional fielding set the stage for their defensive efforts, as they took three wickets within the first three overs. Mohit then delivered a match-turning spell, claiming 3/31 by dismissing key batsmen Daryl Mitchell (63 off 34), Moeen Ali (56 off 36), and Shivam Dube (21 off 13). This allowed GT to restrict CSK to 196/8 in this thrilling GT vs. CSK encounter.
Defending a target of 232, Gujarat Titans (GT) got off to a flawless start in the GT vs. CSK clash, highlighted by some exceptional fielding. David Miller showcased his skills with a fantastic direct hit that caught Rachin Ravindra short of his ground as the openers attempted a quick single in the first over.
In the next over, Tewatia executed a well-judged running catch at mid-off off Impact Player Sandeep Warrier, sending Ajinkya Rahane back to the pavilion. Following that, Rashid Khan made a brilliantly balanced catch at the deep square leg ropes, claiming the vital wicket of the in-form CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad in the third over.
As the GT vs. CSK match progressed, Daryl Mitchell and Moeen Ali came together to steady the innings, shifting gears to create a solid 50-run partnership off just 28 balls.
Mitchell raced to his fifty off just 27 balls, while Moeen Ali went on a six-hitting spree against Noor in the 11th over, smashing three consecutive sixes. As the partnership flourished in the GT vs CSK match, captain Shubman Gill introduced Mohit Sharma into the attack, who turned the tide by breaking the 109-run stand with a clever knuckleball that saw Mitchell mistime his loft to long-off. Moeen then reached his fifty off 31 balls, but Mohit struck again in his next over, having him caught at long-on for a brisk 56 (36), thanks to an excellent catch from Noor Ahmad.
Ravindra Jadeja arrived at the crease and quickly found his rhythm, hitting two fours simultaneously. He and Shivam Dube targeted Kartik Tyagi, blasting two sixes and a four to reduce the target to 70 needed off 24 balls in this gripping GT vs CSK encounter. However, Mohit again claimed another crucial wicket, catching the dangerous Dube at deep mid-wicket. He bowled a splendid 17th over, conceding just six runs.
As the pressure mounted, Rashid Khan added to the chaos by dismissing Jadeja and Santner in the 18th over. With 62 runs required off 12 balls, it became a daunting task. Still, MS Dhoni (26* off 11) thrilled the Ahmedabad crowd with three mighty sixes and a four, as CSK finished with 196/8, falling short by 35 runs in this exciting GT vs CSK matchup.
Earlier in the GT vs CSK match, Chennai Super Kings captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to field. Gujarat Titans got off to a strong start thanks to the openers, Shubman Gill and Sai Sudharsan. Gill set the tone with a well-placed four off Mitchell Santner to open his account in the first over. Just two balls later, he unleashed a beautiful lofted six. Sudharsan also showcased his skills, hitting one of the day’s shots by lofting a six over extra cover off Shardul Thakur.
The pair put on a dazzling display of strokeplay, with Sudharsan bringing up his fifty off 31 balls with a six off Ravindra Jadeja. Gill followed suit, reaching his fifty off 25 balls with another six. The duo then accelerated, accumulating 23 runs off Simarjeet Singh in the 11th. Their partnership surpassed their previous record, establishing GT’s highest partnership for any wicket as they moved past 147 in this thrilling GT vs CSK encounter.
Sudharsan surged into the 90s, and Chennai Super Kings had a chance to break the partnership when Gill mistimed his loft to long-off. However, Tushar Deshpande dropped the catch, parrying it over the ropes. Gill then made it three sixes in that over, smashing a flat one over extra cover just two balls later. As the 16th over unfolded in this exciting GT vs. CSK match, the GT captain caught up with Sudharsan, with both batters reaching identical scores of 96 off 48 balls.
Gill was the first to reach his century, cracking a four through mid-wicket off Simarjeet and celebrating animatedly. They equaled the best IPL opening partnership of 210, previously set by KL Rahul and Quinton de Kock in 2022. However, they couldn’t surpass it. Deshpande finally provided a breakthrough by dismissing Sudharsan, who mistimed his loft to extra cover for 103 (51).
