Gaikwad took an aggressive approach in the early overs, targeting boundaries and helping Chennai Super Kings surpass 50 runs within the powerplay.
As the partnership developed, they effectively rotated the strike and found boundaries at regular intervals. Gaikwad reached his fifty in just 27 balls, smashing Pat Cummins for a six over mid-wicket in the ninth over. CSK crossed the 100-run mark in the 11th over, with Mitchell hitting a boundary off Natarajan. Their partnership flourished, reaching several milestones, including their century stand. Mitchell was dismissed shortly after, falling to Jaydev Unadkat for 52 while attempting a big hit. This brought Shivam Dube to the crease, who played a measured innings as Gaikwad continued to attack the bowling, moving into the 80s by the 15th over. In the 16th over, Gaikwad edged closer to the 90s with two boundaries off Cummins, making a century seem within reach with four overs remaining.
At that point, Dube had faced only six balls and scored four runs. When Natarajan bowled the 17th over, Dube unleashed his power hitting. The margin for error was slim for Natarajan, as Dube struck him for two sixes when he missed his attempted yorkers. Cummins also fell victim to Dube, who hit a straight six in the following over. With this explosive play, CSK could reach 230 runs in the thrilling CSK vs SRH match. Unadkat, however, delivered a strong penultimate over, conceding only eight runs to keep Sunrisers Hyderabad in the game.
In the final over of the CSK vs SRH match, Gaikwad fell agonizingly short of a century, getting caught at mid-wicket on 98. MS Dhoni then entered the field to the expected fanfare, giving the home crowd a moment to cheer as he flicked his first ball through square leg for a four. Dube followed up by launching a massive six through mid-wicket and then took a single to conclude the CSK innings.
Given the recent trends in the TATA IPL, SRH would have been confident in chasing down the 214 runs. Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma typically started their innings by targeting the boundaries. However, in the second over, CSK struck a double blow when Head attempted to hit over the off-side but made a catch with the fielder in the deep. Anmolpreet Singh was introduced as the Impact Player but edged his first ball and was caught at cover. Tushar Deshpande played a crucial role in providing these breakthroughs for CSK in this thrilling CSK vs SRH encounter.
A couple of overs later in the CSK vs. SRH match, Deshpande claimed another crucial wicket when Abhishek hit the ball straight to the fielder at a profound point. Aiden Markram and Nitish Reddy attempted to stabilize the innings, with Markram hitting a few boundaries; however, the required run rate continued to climb. As a mini-partnership began, CSK struck again, dismissing Reddy in the ninth over when Jadeja bowled a half-tracker resembling a bouncer. While attempting to pull the ball, Reddy got a top edge and was caught by Dhoni.
Due to these regular wickets, SRH struggled to find momentum, and their situation worsened when Matheesha Pathirana delivered his trademark yorker to bowl Markram out for 32 in the 11th over. This continued setback highlighted CSK’s dominance in the ongoing CSK vs. SRH encounter.
SRH never recovered from those setbacks, as CSK maintained tight bowling and built pressure even against powerful hitters like Heinrich Klaasen and Abdul Samad. The required run rate soared to an unreachable level, and SRH’s innings ultimately concluded at 134, handing CSK a commanding victory.
The CSK bowlers displayed a collective effort, with Deshpande standing out by taking four wickets, three of which significantly disrupted the SRH chase early on. Pathirana’s two crucial wickets in the middle overs further contributed to the team’s success. In comparison, Mustafizur Rahman secured two wickets at the end to seal the deal. A notable highlight from the match was Mitchell’s impressive performance, as he took five catches—the most by an outfielder in a TATA IPL match—tying the record set by Mohammad Nabi during the 2021 edition. This dominant performance in the CSK vs SRH clash solidified CSK’s status as a formidable team.
