There’s a lot of talk about Rohit Sharma’s future with the Mumbai Indians (MI) ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction. The big question is whether MI will keep him or let him go. Many other teams are interested in signing the Indian captain, and Lucknow SuperGiants’ fielding coach, Jonty Rhodes, has hinted that his team would be excited to have him. At the launch of the Pro Cricket League in New Delhi, Jonty commented: “If Rohit Sharma comes to the IPL auction, LSG is all set to welcome him. He is a great player and every team would want him”.
Rohit Sharma and Abhishek Nayar share a close friendship that has endured since 2011. This bond was especially evident during a difficult time in Rohit’s career when he was left out of the 2011 World Cup squad. Facing disappointment, Rohit found unwavering support in Nayar, who stood by him and helped him through the tough period. This strong personal connection has only deepened over the years, and today, Nayar continues to be a crucial part of Rohit’s life, particularly in his professional endeavors.
As India gears up for a significant Test series against Bangladesh, Nayar has become instrumental in Rohit’s fitness regime. Their collaborative efforts are evident in their focused training sessions, where Nayar’s role has become more prominent. Their commitment to fitness is crucial for Rohit as he prepares to lead India in the upcoming series, demonstrating the importance of their strong partnership both on and off the field.
Recently, a video surfaced on social media showing Rohit Sharma working out in a park, with Nayar closely supervising. The video highlights Rohit’s rigorous cardio routine, including crunches and other exercises, all under Nayar’s expert guidance. This public glimpse into their training showcases their dedication to maintaining Rohit’s peak physical condition and underscores the pivotal role Nayar plays in ensuring that Rohit is fully prepared for the upcoming Test series.
Rohit Sharma is widely regarded as one of the best white-ball batters of his generation, making him a valuable asset for any team.
In other news, Dr. Kishore Shallow, the President of Cricket West Indies (CWI), has announced the creation of new positions within the organization. These include roles for a Chief Operating Officer and a Chief Commercial Officer. Dr. Shallow noted that two individuals have already been hired for these positions and are set to begin their roles on October 1.
Furthermore, with the current CEO, Johnny Grave, leaving CWI in October, Dr. Shallow mentioned that the search for a new CEO will start in the next two weeks.
“We will start the recruitment process for a new CEO in the next two weeks or thereabout. Additionally, in terms of the new roles created, we have created a chief operations officer role, and we expect to have someone recruited for that role and starting in that role on October 1,” Dr Shallow said while speaking at CWI’s quarterly press conference on Thursday.
“We are making a change of the usual commercial head role, so rather than it being the commercial director, we are moving forward with a new title of chief commercial officer, which is in keeping with modern day practice of these types of organisations.”
“So we will have that individual who has already been recruited, a highly competent and experienced individual who has worked with ICC and other reputable organisations. At this time, I will prefer not to name him but over the next couple weeks or so we will announce this individual,” he added.
Dr. Shallow mentioned that Nyssa Pierre has recently been appointed as the new Communications and Media Manager. Additionally, two new media officers will join the organization within the next two weeks.
