Afghanistan’s lackluster batting performance highlighted the one-sided nature of the match. Openers Rahmanullah Gurbaz (0 off 3) and Ibrahim Zadran fell quickly, failing to build any momentum. Although wickets continued to tumble, Gulbadin Naib (9 off 8) and Azmatullah Omarzai (10 off 12) managed to pose a slight challenge. The middle and lower order crumbled under the pressure of South Africa’s bowling attack, with Karim Janat (8 off 13) facing the most deliveries. South Africa’s left-arm wrist spinner, Tabraiz Shamsi, emerged as the most destructive bowler, taking three wickets for just six runs in 1.5 overs. Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen each contributed two wickets, helping to dismantle the Afghan batting lineup for a mere 56 runs.
With a relentless and precise bowling attack, South Africa dismantled the Afghan batting lineup. Marco Jansen was the standout bowler, taking three wickets for 16 runs after delivering three tight overs. Kagiso Rabada (2/14) and Anrich Nortje (2/23) provided excellent support, consistently applying pressure and claiming two wickets each. Tabraiz Shamsi showcased his exceptional leg-spin by limiting run flow and exposing the weaknesses in the Afghan batting, finishing with figures of 3/6. Keshav Maharaj also bowled a tidy over, conceding just six runs.
For T20 World Cup betting, South African players could be a lucrative choice. Chasing a modest target of 57 runs, South Africa’s openers Quinton de Kock (5) and Reeza Hendricks (29*) ensured an easy victory. Hendricks anchored the innings with a steady 29 off 25 balls, while De Kock fell early to Fazalhaq Farooqi (1/15). Aiden Markram (23* off 21) joined Hendricks at the crease and helped guide South Africa to the target in just 8.5 overs without any further losses. Apart from Fazalhaq Farooqi, who took one wicket, Afghanistan’s bowlers struggled to make an impact.
South Africa’s strong performance demonstrates their determination to claim their first T20 World Cup title, as they now await their opponent in the final.
